Kilchattan Bay is the southern tip of Bute, a single curving row of houses above a sandy beach facing the Ayrshire coast. St Blanes House stands on the shore road, so the water is a few steps from the front door and the West Island Way starts at the end of the street.
Rothesay and its ferry are about fifteen minutes by car or bus, with Mount Stuart and the Kingarth Hotel closer still.
