Rothesay is the island's only town and the main ferry port. The Glenburn is set back slightly from the Esplanade, close enough to walk to the pier, the Winter Gardens, Rothesay Castle and the bus terminus in a few minutes.
That location makes it a practical base for a car-free trip: walk off the ferry, walk to the hotel, and use the island bus network or your own feet for the rest of the stay.
The Glenburn is a traditional Bute hotel rather than a contemporary boutique property. Expect comfortable, unfussy rooms, a breakfast room and a lounge bar, with staff who know the island well and can point you toward the best walks, beaches and ferry times.
